  7.    Installing Avenger Support

  10.                 To establish Avenger support, simple run the
  11.         batch file AVMECH2.BAT
  12.  
  13.                 ex:     A:> AVMECH2
  14.  
  15.         This will perform two actions:
  16.  
  17.                 1.  COPY AVENGER.DLL \MECH2\GIDDI
  18.  
  19.                 2.  COPY AVENGER.CPC \MECH2\GIDDI
  20.

  22.         You must hit ESC once inside Mech2 and select the 
  23.         Cockit Controls menu item.  Then select Spaceball
  24.         Avenger from the menu.  If you wish, you can also select
  25.         the Mouse, it will work concurrently with the Avenger.
  26.         Please disable FlightStick if it is highlighted in red by
  27.         clicking on it with the mouse.  It may produce undesirable
  28.         results by conflicting with the Avenger.

  30.    Installing for a Custom Path

  32.         If you did not select the default path setting
  33.         when installing MechWarrior, you must provide the path
  34.         you chose when running the batch file.

  36.                 ex:     A:> AVMECH2  /GAMES/3D/MECH2

  38.         This will install Avenger support in that directory

  41.    Controlling the MechWarrior

  44.         The following paragraph will assume you are familiar with
  45.         the device, and namely, the six individual axes.

  48.         TX      Turn legs left, right (pull left, push right)

  50.         TY      Jump (pull up - if jump jets available)

  52.         TZ      Throttle up, down (C button must be held)

  54.         RX      If D Button not pressed - torso pitch (look up, down)

  72.    Remapping the Avenger Controls
  73.

  75.         Unlike most games supported by the Avenger, there is no
  76.         configuration file to allow the user to remap buttons and
  77.         change the feel of the game.  However, you can edit the controls.
  78.         Please refer to the Mech II instructions for remapping input 
  79.         device (Cockpit Controls - Install Guide page 19).

  81.         By default, the Mech unit will recenter itself if no pressure
  82.         is applied to the Avenger.
  83.  
  84.         You can change this to allow it to maintain its' orientation
  85.         by changing Pitch and Yaw to Turn Left/Turn Right and Look Up/Look
  86.  Down.
  87.         These items are listed under the Buttons menu, since they are
  88.         digital as opposed to analog.  The AVENGER.DLL will set these
  89.         accordingly to motion, and they will generate the same effect
  90.         as a keystroke.  You may find the response is a bit slower, and
  91.         you may need to use one of the Buttons for recentering so you
  92.         don't lose your orientation between the legs and torso turning.
